El Puig

The urban area of El Puig is close to the city of Valencia and some distance from the beach (about four kilometers in a straight line), but as in other Valencian coastal sectors, the desire of its people led to the development of summer resorts, converted already in first residence for many who do not want to miss the immense blue at any time of the year.

In the urban area of El Puig highlights the Monastery of Santa María de El Puig (built in 1237) that was declared a National Historic-Artistic Monument in 1969.

In the town stands out the small hill that gives name to this population, fixed in the history of the Valencian Community, where battles were fought that opened the way to Jaime I and the reconquest of the city of Valencia.
