Make the most of your weekends and enjoy these hiking routes until the end of June in different municipalities of the l’Alcoià-Comtat area.

These organised hikes take visitors around the main sites of the participating towns and villages, whilst also offering an experience in the places visited through gastronomy, culture, crafts or outdoor activities.

Hikes are guided and will have a price of €6, and normally start at the town hall of each participating town. Visitors must register in advance.

Programme

The Alcoy route will last all day, on April 3, and will be related to cave art and modernism, with a visit to the Sarga site, the Camil Visedo Moltó Archaeological Museum and, in the afternoon, visits to the most emblematic places of the Route of Modernism.

On May 28, the program will reach Beniarrés and Cocentaina, with a morning visit to the Cova de l’Or Interpretation Center and its site and, in the afternoon, the Palau Comtal and the Anti-Aircraft Shelter.

On June 19 it will be the turn of Banyeres de Mariola and the route “The trade of l’espardenya and the paper industry”, with morning and afternoon activities to get to know the Museu de l’Espardenya, the Museu Valencià del Paper, the castle and, in the afternoon, walk the Route of the Mills.

Learn all the secrets of one of the most important fortresses in the province of Alicante, the castle of Banyeres de Mariola.

The castle, of Islamic origin, was built at the end of the 12th century and restored in the 60s and 70s. Its tower stands out majestically. Two masonry walls close the castle enclosure, in which the parade ground, an old cistern and another small room, today dedicated to the Museum of Moors and Christians, complete it.

The castle is located 830 metres above sea level and offers spectacular views of four provinces: Alicante, Murcia, Valencia and Albacete.

This event takes place in Banyeres de Mariola in Alicante from 13 to 15 December.

The festivity pays tribute to the paper maker guild, a very important sector in the town since the beginning of the 19th century.

Clothes worn to celebrate this event are reknown for being original: men wear a cape, hat and black suit; women wear traditional Spanish attire.

The festival consists of events such as a waking up parade, lunch, processions and parades.

Hoces del Cabriel

A day-out where 200 trees of various species will be planted in this Natural Park Hoces de Cabriel.
