‘Hogueras de San Juan’ in Alicante

The festivals, declared of International Tourist Interest, are held from 20 to 24 June in Alicante.
The ‘Hogueras de San Juan’ are Alicante’s main festivity and revolve around ‘hogueras’ (huge creative figures of cardboard and wood) that are burnt on the night of 24 to 25 June.
During this festival the city is full of music, colour, gunpowder and entertainment with thousands of people taking to the streets to visit the monuments or to enjoy one of the programmed events such as the traditional mascletás, the plantá and the cremá bonfires, flower offerings and parades.
