Make the most of your weekends and enjoy these hiking routes until the end of June in different municipalities of the l’Alcoià-Comtat area.

These organised hikes take visitors around the main sites of the participating towns and villages, whilst also offering an experience in the places visited through gastronomy, culture, crafts or outdoor activities.

Hikes are guided and will have a price of €6, and normally start at the town hall of each participating town. Visitors must register in advance.

The Alcoy route will last all day, on April 3, and will be related to cave art and modernism, with a visit to the Sarga site, the Camil Visedo Moltó Archaeological Museum and, in the afternoon, visits to the most emblematic places of the Route of Modernism.

On May 28, the program will reach Beniarrés and Cocentaina, with a morning visit to the Cova de l’Or Interpretation Center and its site and, in the afternoon, the Palau Comtal and the Anti-Aircraft Shelter.

On June 19 it will be the turn of Banyeres de Mariola and the route “The trade of l’espardenya and the paper industry”, with morning and afternoon activities to get to know the Museu de l’Espardenya, the Museu Valencià del Paper, the castle and, in the afternoon, walk the Route of the Mills.

Visit this archaeological site, declared a Site of Cultural Interest, located in the Benicadell mountain range (Beniarrés).

The cave contains an archaeological site of enormous importance for the knowledge and investigation of the Neolithic in the Mediterranean.

The cave was an ideal place for human habitation. Evidence has been found of food and household items from this period.

Access to the site has been improved, including a footbridge, and it is now open to the public with guided tours including a walk through scenes how how the cavemen lived.

The visits, which will take place at weekends by prior reservation, start at the Interpretation Centre of the municipality and transport near the side and then a short one kilometre hike up a slight slope to reach the cave.

For all motorcycles, nature, companionship and good atmosphere lovers, on September 29, the Costa Blanca Challenge event arrives in the north and interior of the Alicante province.

The tourist event combines sport, tourism, gastronomy and culture. Its objective is to make the participants aware of the roads, towns and singular places of the Alicante province.

Costa Blanca Challenge, which has a non-competitive character, will run on roads open to traffic and will climb several mountain passes. The participation options are two circular routes, the Costa Blanca Challenge 200 and the Costa Blanca Challenge 400, differentiated according to the number of kilometers to travel (200 or 400). Both routes will have their departure and arrival in Alcoy (Alicante).

For the Costa Blanca Challenge 400, the start will take place approximately at 7:00 a.m., in a stepped way of 5 in 5, with a time interval to be determined according to the final number of participants.

For the Costa Blanca Challenge 200, the start will start when the participants finish the previous route, in a stepped way from 5 to 5, with a time interval to be determined according to the final number of participants.

The organization will keep both routes secret until a few weeks before the event, but is scheduled to pass through Banyeres de Mariola, Jijona, Tárbena, El Poble Nou de Benitatxell and Beniarrés.
