Orihuela

Orihuela is the capital of a very extensive and once enormously fertile region: the Vega Baja del Segura.

The coast of Orihuela presents an unusual variety and heterogeneity on the Alicante coast, with medium cliffs, slets, coves, long beaches and two marinas of great charm: Cabo Roig marina and sports port of La Dehesa de Campoamor.

The adjacent sea beds are located within a Marine Community Interest Site, dedicated to the protection of the extensive and well-preserved posidonia meadows, whose conservation the European Union considers a priority.

The Palmeral de Orihuela has been declared a Site of Community Interest by the European Union, within the Natura 2000 network. Similarly, it has a unique declaration of Cultural Heritage of the Spanish Historical Heritage.
