This is a fair that takes place during the weekend of 23 and 24 of October in Novelda’s Plaça Vella area. Novelda is in the Alicante region.

The aim of this fair, now the fourth edition, is to recover local heritage and make it known to neighboring villages and visitors.

To this end, an extensive programme of activities has been organised around modernism, such as traditional games, workshops, contests and guided visits.

There will also be stands, exhibitions, animation and dramatised visits. Various local restaurants will offer tapas and modernist-inspired menus.

The aim of this fair, now the third edition, is to recover local heritage and make it known to neighboring villages and visitors.

To this end, an extensive programme of activities has been organised around modernism, such as traditional games, articulated and chocolate trains for the younger ones, modernist graffiti, a guided tour of the life of Novelda’s bourgeoisie or a visit to a themed photographic studio.

There will also be stands, exhibitions, book presentations, live music, dances and dramatised visits. Various local restaurants will offer tapas and modernist-inspired menus.

The ‘Moors and Christians’ will be on from 19 to 28 July.

The ’embajada’ (embassy), one of the main events of the festivities, takes place in the Town Hall square 19 July.

The biggest parades takes place on 21 July, with 6 Christian ‘comparsas’, and on 23 July with 4 Moorish ‘comparsas’.

Extra splendour and pomp is added to these fiestas as they also coincide with Novelda’s patron saint fiestas. Again, ¡fiestas for everone!

Both fairs will be held at the ‘Glorieta de Novelda’. With the crafts fair from 9 to 11 November and the grape fair on Saturday 10 November.

The ‘Craft Fair’ brings togethers a wide selection of artisans, who will both show visitors how they work and sell their products including a whole range of ceramics, recycled wood furniture, leather bags and folders, jewellery and costume jewellery, hand-woven shawls, patchwork, beeswax candles, engraved glass and fun figures made of acorns or papier maché. A great range of authentic craftsmanship.

Children will be entertained with various workshops, a play area including board games and, on Saturday and Sunday, a carousel. On Saturday morning a dj will enliven the fair followed by a concert at 18:00. Afterwards traditional dulzaina and drum music will keep up the good vibes.

On Saturday the ‘Grape Fair’ joins the fun selling Vinalopó grapes in bags (the same grape eaten in Spain at midnight on New Year’s Eve along with the traditional bells) wine and other products made with grapes. Local bars and restaurants will also offer a range of grape-based tapas for the occasion.

Eight local restaurants (La Villa, Bodega Heretat de Cesilia, Casa L’Art, Levante, La Mola, Cucuch, Ristorante Italiano and Clandestino Gastrobar) will participate in the Gastronomic Days of Grape and Saffron with grape-based menus that day.
