Learn about the history of Alicante wines through this outdoor exhibition, which can be visited until May 8 at Paseo Vista Alegre in Torrevieja.

The traveling exhibition recreates the area’s winemaking tradition through contemporary illustrations.

The works have been created by three illustrators from Alicante: Erre Gálvez, Miguel Calatayud and Paula Alenda, each with their personal style and technique using their creativity to tell us in a different way the more than 3000 years of history of Alicante wine.

Torrevieja’s carnival festivities are from 4 February to 6 March with activities spread over different spots in the city.

This new edition will bring novelties such as “The animal carnival”, “The Matero carnival” and “The carnibars”.

The programme of activities is completed with events such as a kid’s parade, a carnival party for senior citizens, the Grand Parade Contest or the must see Grand Night Parade.

Learn about the great environmental and cultural heritage of the Torrevieja’s Natural Park of La Mata Lagoons with an ecotourism route.

There are four different routes on offer where you can enjoy a fun day out and learn many interesting facts about one of one of the most important wetlands of the Costa Blanca.

Visits will take place from the park’s visitor centre. Tours will take between 3:30 and 4 hours. It is recommended to bring comfortable clothing, mountain or sports shoes, food and water, and it is advisable to bring a flashlight on night walks and a cap, binoculars and camera on day walks.

The routes are apt for all public and will comply with the currently recommended health and safety measures.

In the Sea and Salt Museum of Torrevieja you can learn about the origins and history of the city through a selection of objects that reflect the roots of the town, such as a display of salt craftsmanship with its “salt boats”, a collection of period photographs, model boats, archaeological material and fishing and navigation elements.

Also of note is the exhibition of a magnificent model of the Torrevieja sailing ship “Pascual Flores”, launched in 1918 and the last surviving vessel of the old local coasting seafarers used for the salt trade.

And if you wish to extend the visit, you can do so by visiting the submarine Delfín S-61 and touring all the ship’s rooms. The vessel is located near the museum, in the fishing dock area of the port. It is the only ship of its kind that can be visited in Spain.

Learn a little piece of Torrevieja’s history through the salt boats, an emblem of the city whose manufacture has almost been completely lost.

One of the traditional trades linked to the salt industry is the creation of the famous salt boats. This process, completely handmade, involves a lot of work and requires great skill.

The assembly of a salt boat consists first of building the structure of the boat using pieces of wood and covering it with very fine cotton cloth. Once the structure is assembled, when the lagoon is crystallizing, we proceed to what is known as “the curdling”, which consists of introducing the boat into the salt brine for 10 to 12 days, so that the salt crystals adhere to the structure. Once the crystals have set, they are removed from the water and placed in wooden and glass urns, where they will be preserved in perfect condition, ready for contemplation.

You can contemplate the famous and unique salt boats in the “Museo del Mar y la Sal” of the town, as well as buy some of them in the store of the Salinas de Torrevieja.

From 12:00 to 16:30 and from 19:30 to 23:00 each establishment will offer tapas and drink for EUR 2,50. Why this date? Because it coincides with the ‘World day of tapas’ and what better day could there be to offer and enjoy a huge variety of tapas at affordable prices.

Aquapark Flamingo is a small water park in the urbanization La Siesta part of Torrevieja, Alicante.

The is a great family park, specially for families with children aged between 2 and 10 years. Aquapark Flamingo is rated as one of the best water parks in Spain.

It has a variety of swimming pools, slides and jacuzzis making it perfect for relaxing while the kids are under control.

Other amenities such as restaurants, a picnic area, lockers, changing rooms, parking and free lounger service round off the park’s offer.

Remember to take cash though as this small water park does not have a card payment service, although there is an ATM nearby.
 
The park will be open from 1 June to 31 August, 2023.
