Discover this surprising natural park, in the Peñón de Ifach in Calpe, one of the symbols of the Costa Blanca.

The Natural Park has a hiking route that leads to the top of the Peñón de Ifach. From there you can enjoy privileged views of the islands of Formentera, Ibiza and even the Santa Pola cape.

To access the climb there is a tunnel dug into the rock that connects the northern and southern slopes of the rock.
During the route you will pass through the archaeological site of the Pobla d’Ifach, a small settlement of inhabitants from the 13th century.

Access to the park is free, but visitors must book in advance as there is a daily quota of 300 walkers. This route is not suitable for children and visitors are advised to wear a mask during the whole walk.

This ‘Fiesta de la cerveza’ takes place from 2 to 13 October in Calpe’s Tennis club.

The beer fest will be held in a huge 15 000 square meters tent open to the public every day as from 18.00. Admission will be free of charge.

At ‘Oktoberfest Calpe 2019’ try German beer served in large jars and eat rich traditional Bavarian dishes such as roast pork, sausages, radishes or pretzels.

Listen to live music every evening as from 19.00 with the ‘Steinsberger Musikanten’ (musicians).

There will also be a whole range of activities commemorating German traditions such as as verbenas, folkloric acts, beer tasting and competitions such as lifting beer jugs.

Although figures were the second best in the last ten years, they went down over three points compared to last year.

According to hotel management data (Hosbec), the data for 2018 reflect an average occupancy of 78%, similar to 2017 and in both cases well above occupancy of previous years.

This slight decrease was the same for all categories of hotels in almost all localities. As in previous years, Finestrat had the highest occupancy rate, followed by Calpe and Alfaz del Pi.

By months, February, November and December were the ones that increased the most, revealing a tendency to visit the Costa Blanca as a winter tourist destination too

The country of origin of most visitors was Spain with 56.6% and a growth of 0.9%. The United Kingdom maintains second place with 14.5% of the market, but falling by 0.7%. The rest of the main country of origins to visit Spain continue previous year trends in decreasing order: Norway, Belgium, Holland, France, Germany, Sweden, Poland, Italy and Russia.

The experience ‘¡Cuéntame un puerto!’ aims to inform and show visitors Calpe port history and seafaring culture.

From Monday to Friday visitors may choose one of three options listed below to get to know different parts of the port such as the fishermen’s hut, the dock, the ice factory or the recycle station as well as fishing-related activities including the local fish auction.

• ‘El Puerto y la Pesca Artesanal’. Visit the fishermen’s hut and an exhibition of fishing gear, see how local traditional fishing boats arrive and offload the day’s fishing and enjoy a guided tour of the port (morning slots available on request).
• ‘Subasta de Calpe en Vivo’. Visit the fishermen’s hut and an exhibition of fishing gear, see how local traditional fishing boats arrive and offload the day’s fishing and enjoy a guided tour of the port and enjoy an exciting fish auction (winter from 16:00 to 17:30 / summer from 16:30 to 18:00).
• ‘School visits’. An original educational experience for students. Workshops or games organised on demand. Suitable for all school ages (timetable mornings on request).

All visits last around 90 minutes and cost EUR 6 per person (children up to 6 years free of charge and group discounts available).

On request, you may combine your visit with other activities such as the Calpe tourist train, a sailing trip with an instructor or sampling a lovely seafood menu.
