In this 14th edition, ‘Circarte’ continues with the aim to impulse and promote contemporary circus. The festival maintains its commitment to juggling, acrobatics and shows for all audiences, which are often combined with dance, theatre and music.

This year ‘Circarte 2023’ programme features more than twenty shows from fifteen national and international companies who will travel and perform a variety of disciplines.

Also, parallel activities are scheduled such as workshops, exhibitions, parades and screenings.

El Campello offers a series of guided and recreated visits during the summer.

The guided tours (in Spanish, English and French) will show us some points of interest of El Campello, such as Villa Marco and the Illeta, where visitors will contemplate its landscapes and learn about its history from the hand of an official guide.

The recreated visits (only in Spanish), are a different and fun way to experience the history of the town through its protagonists.

• Recreated visit “A journey through the time of Villa Marco”: A walk through the gardens surrounding the mansion, in which the characters that inhabited this estate will come out to us.
• Guided tour “Villa Marco, modernist gardens”: A guided tour of the gardens of Villa Marco. A walk in which our guide, among arbors, passageways and sculptures will tell us the interesting history of the estate and the characters who lived there.
• Guided tour “La Illeta, crossroads of civilizations”: We will visit La Torre de la Illeta and learn about its history, origins and the role it played and we will walk along part of the Voramar de les Escultures promenade. By courtesy of MARQ, we will be able to visit the archaeological site of “La Illeta dels Banyets” for free until the end of the year.

 
The visits will take place during the months of June to September, on different days and times (at 10:00 in the morning visits and at 19:00 hours in the afternoon visits). All of them are free of charge and prior reservation is required.

The ‘Moors and Christians’ Festivities start on 12 October and finish on 15 October.

Festivities start on Saturday with the famous ‘El Desembarco Moro’ (Moorish landing) followed by the spectacular ‘Embajada Mora’ on the ‘Carrer la Mar’ beach.

Festivities continue with other traditions such as the ‘alardos’, grouping of different ‘embassies’ in front of the castle and colourful parades that will fill the streets with music and light.

On 13 October at 11:30 the ‘Christian Embassy’ takes the lead and then on 15 October religious acts in honour of Saint Teresa and the ‘Virgen de los Desamparados’ take place ending with a magnificent fireworks display.

Also, parallel activities are scheduled such as round tables, meetings, exhibitions, screenings or a ‘Family Circus’ workshop.

The visits are scheduled for April 19, 20 and 21 at 12:00 and leave from the entrance to the site.

With this tour, the visitors will become an adventurer as they enter the archaeological site of “Illeta dels Banyets” and learn about how our ancestors lived (and felt) in different historical periods and, later, know how and why the Torre de la Illeta was built in the 16th century.

The visits last about 60 minutes and cost €5.50 (children from 5 to 14 years old pay €3.50).

This Medieval Market starts on 11 October and ends on 14 October, open to the public from 11.30 to 14.00 and from 17.30 to 22.30, it takes place in Campello’s Plaza de la Constitución and surrounding area with a wide variety of craft and food stalls.

There will be fun for all with both day and evening shows, children’s area, parades, workshops and music.

El Campello has long and excellent beaches in an abrupt and complex environment from the orographic point of view, with steep coasts of half height, such as the Coveta Fumá, combined with small and exceptional coves between the rock where sand and gravel alternate with a landscape and quality of waters almost unique in the Alicante coast.

The town has an active sport and fishing port where you can attend the fish auction, in its busy fish market, which attracts professionals from all over the province.

Next to the marina is the watchtower that dominates the area known as Illeta del Banyets. The Illeta is an excellent archaeological park, very unique in the Mediterranean, put in value to show prehistoric settlements ranging from the Bronze Age to the remains of an Iberian settlement, unique in its characteristics and considered one of the most important in the Mediterranean. From Roman times we found small hot springs and small fish farms carved in the stone, which gave the enclave its unique name.

El Campello retains its flavor as a fishing village, although the town, under its proximity to Alicante and its remarkable tourist resources, has experienced considerable economic growth.

Its marina is the center of operations for nautical sports enthusiasts in general and the gastronomic offer will convince all those who like sea products and rices, so unique, that they are made here.

The port is ideal for a trip to the Island of Tabarca or costing other nearby ports such as Alicante to the south, or towards Villajoyosa to the north.

In what was a small island or rocky outcrop or connected to the mainland are the Baños de la Reina: a magnificently restored example of an archaeological site of diverse chronology showing the settlements of the cultures and civilizations that go from the Bronze Age, to the Iberian or Roman ascription. The warehouses with houses gave way to thermal baths, small temples, curious fishponds excavated in the stone; a concentration of vestiges in such a small area that is unparalleled on our coasts and reminds us of what our lands were a long time ago, a vehicle of merchandise, cultures and peoples that have made us as we are. The journey to the past and the return to the present and the future are made here in a few square meters and the sea, as a witness of all this, exacerbates the enjoyment of the senses.
